Η Σύρος ανήκει στο σύμπλεγμα των Κυκλάδων, με έκταση 84 τ.χλμ. Έχει σύνδεση με πλοία από Πειραιά σε τέσσερεις, ή δυόμιση ώρες με ταχύπλοο, και με αεροπλάνο σε είκοσι λεπτά (20'). Έχει επίσης τακτική σύνδεση με τα υπόλοιπα νησιά των Κυκλάδων.

Το Κίνι βρίσκεται στη δυτική πλευρά του νησιού 9 χλμ. από την πόλη, και είναι το πιο όμορφο παραδοσιακό ψαροχώρι του νησιού με δύο πεντακάθαρες παραλίες στον κόλπο του, και μια ακόμη σε απόσταση ενός χιλιομέτρου. Αποτελεί επίσης λιμάνι αναχώρησης για τις βόρειες παραλίες του νησιού, που η πρόσβασή τους είναι δυνατή μόνο με καΐκι.

Υπάρχουν ταβέρνες, σούπερ μάρκετ και το περίφημο ενυδρείο με το αλιευτικό μουσείο του. Η συγκοινωνία μέσα στην πόλη γίνεται με τακτικά δρομολόγια λεωφορείων και ταξί.

Syros belongs in the cluster of Cyclades, an extent of 84 sq.km. It can be reached by boat (4 hours) and speedboat (2 hours) from Piraeus. Alternatively, an airplane trip from Athens lasts just over 20 minutes. There are also regular daily itineraries to and from the rest of Cyclades islands.

The Kini is located in the western side of island, 9 km. from the city, and is the most beautiful traditional fishing village of the island, boasting two spotless beaches in its gulf - and an additional one less than 1 km away. It constitutes the regular point of departure for the northern beaches of the island, accessible only from the sea. 

There are many tavernas, supermarkets, and the eminent aquarium with its piscatorial museum. There are regular bus services and taxis for your journeys inside the town.
